About Me

IMG_5497Teleisha Louise Thomas.

Born and raised in Perth, WA. Final semester at ECU, studying a double major in graphic design and photography.

I have always been the creative type, focussing more on music and art in high school. I was taught to sing from age 9 to 18, and in my final years studying Jazz. Since high school I have invested most of my time to art. After finding graphic design as an option for study, I knew it was the right fit.

I chose graphic design because I thought it help me get into editorial work (magazines and creative publishing). What I have learn on the way is more of an understanding of the design world in many different ways not just the aesthetics. I have learnt to become a great designer, I must be attuned to my surroundings and have empathy to those I am designing for. Design means nothing if it is not right for the specific needs of the user and zone in on what the client needs and not wants. There’s nothing in this word that design does not touch. It is fundamental as humans to have an understanding literacy and in sight. Our minds understand sight before words. Getting your point across for the user have as much understanding efficiently and pleasing as possible is what good design is about.

Apart from tertiary studies I have created my own mini art business, with commission work and market stalls. I work on resin art, formal painting, digital printed fabric and homewares, printmaking (illustrations, books, screens), feature films, photojournalism, editorial photography and copy.

Mission Statment

During my last year at uni I want to push myself and my creative works to the best calibre I can. All works must be something I am proud to showcase in my portfolio for pursuing design and photography jobs. I hope to use my knowledge from tertiary study and external international experience to one day accumulate into a successful career in the editorial business. I see myself working with many people to build or adjust their current brand into more successful businesses. I also want to explore my own creativity and acknowledge that my career path can be fluid and change between creative disciplines, like I have my whole life.
